Ingredients:
- 2 ripe Hass avocados
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 jalapeño or serrano pepper, minced (remove seeds for less heat)
- ½ small red or white onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Roma tomato, seeded and chopped
- 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Scoop out the avocados into a medium bowl or molcajete, removing the pits.
- Squeeze lime juice over the avocados, then mash roughly with a fork.
- Add all remaining ingredients and stir gently with a fork to combine.
- Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes:
- To reduce heat, skip the pepper or remove all seeds.
- For a smoother guac, mash avocados more thoroughly before adding other ingredients.
- This is best served fresh, but you can store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface for up to 1 day.
