Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne (red) pepper
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large whole chicken
Instructions:
- Combine the dried spices in a small bowl.
- Place the chopped onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Remove any giblets from the chicken and rub the spice mixture all over the chicken. You can even put some of the spices inside the cavity and under the skin.
- Place the prepared chicken breast side up on top of the onions. Cover and turn to high. No added liquid is needed.
- Cook for 4–5 hours (for a 3- to 4-pound chicken), or until the chicken is falling off the bone.
Recipe Notes:
- You can cook this on low for 6–8 hours instead if needed.
- Save the bones to make your own homemade chicken stock.
