If you’re like most women I know, you’ve spent years chasing symptoms – bloating, fatigue, anxiety, cravings, breakouts, hormone swings, chronic pain – trying different diets, supplements, or protocols, hoping this one will finally work.

And yet… you’re still not feeling like yourself.

Woman wrapped in a blanket holding her head in discomfort, sitting beside a table with medications and a clock, symbolizing the struggle of persistent symptoms and the search for answers.

That doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your body is trying to tell you something. And since you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re ready to listen. Am I right?!

This blog category is here to help you decode those symptoms so you can stop chasing and start healing from the root.

Symptoms Aren’t the Problem. They’re the Clues.

We’ve been taught to treat symptoms like something to silence or suppress. But in functional nutrition, we see them differently – they’re messengers.

What feels like “random” health issues is actually your body’s intelligence at work, asking for support in the most effective way it knows how.

Symptoms are signs of something deeper happening. But what causes a symptom in your friend may cause a completely different symptom in you. And that same symptom in both of you? It might come from entirely different root causes.

That’s the beauty of bioindividuality – each of our bodies is unique – and it’s why we must get curious, not reactive.

When we start to clear the muddy waters and create the right environment for healing, these messengers often become quieter naturally.

It’s Not in Your Head. It’s in Your Systems.

Ever been told “your labs are normal” or “it’s just stress” or “it’s just part of getting older”? You’re not alone! But symptoms don’t just happen – they come from imbalance. And imbalance has roots.

That’s why we look deeper. We want to know what’s going on in there. We need to examine not just the branches (symptoms), but the roots and the soil they grow in.

That soil we’re talking about…it’s your diet and lifestyle. It’s how well your body can digest and use nutrients. It’s your stress levels, sleep quality, and daily habits.

Everything is connected. We are all unique. All things matter. Your symptoms are part of your story – and that story deserves to be understood, not dismissed.

This is where there’s a gap in our current medical system – and where reimagining self-care becomes so important. You are the expert of you. Your providers are guides with expertise, but ultimately your healthcare comes down to you knowing your body best.

What You’ll Learn in the Understanding Symptoms Category

This section of the blog helps you bridge the gap between what you feel and what’s going on underneath.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Track symptoms with curiosity – not fear
  • Spot patterns and connect them to deeper imbalances
  • Understand what your doctor might not have time to explain
  • Take gentle, step-by-step action without feeling overwhelmed

Once you start seeing your symptoms as messages – not enemies – you’ll stop chasing quick fixes and start creating a real healing path forward.

You’ll stop seeing your body as a problem to be fixed – and start seeing it as your partner to nurture and learn to live in harmony with.

This is a journey of self-knowledge and self-awareness. Start low, go slow. Make incremental and sustainable change. That which we nurture ends up nurturing us.

🌀 Your 5-Minute Action

Take a moment and jot down the top 3 symptoms that bother you most. Next to each one, write:

  • When did it start?
  • When is it worse or better? (After certain foods? Times of day? Times of month?)
  • What have you tried that helped, even a little?
  • What do you think it might be connected to?

This isn’t about diagnosis – it’s about curiosity. Get curious about your body, not judgmental. This is the beginning of listening with intention and becoming the expert of your own body.

You’re Not Alone

If you’ve ever felt like your symptoms were brushed off, ignored, or too “mild” to matter – you’re not imagining things. And you’re definitely not alone.

I created this blog because I’ve been where you are. And I want to help you fill the gap – to give you what your provider may want to explain, but doesn’t have time to. Or simply may not know (the human body is complex!).

The world needs YOU – healthy and vibrant. And that starts with understanding what your body is trying to tell you.

You’re not chasing symptoms anymore. You’re learning how to understand the messages, clear the muddy waters, and create the environment for your body to function optimally.

Because when we listen to our bodies instead of fighting them, everything changes.
